IFAT Munich 2026 – What It Is and Why It Matters
IFAT has been the global hub of the environmental technology industry since 1966. The 2026 edition puts the spotlight on critical themes such as the new EU Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive, energy neutrality of wastewater treatment plants, the fourth treatment stage, the circular economy, and digitalization. It is where investment decisions meet technological innovation.

HUBER Cold Air Dryer HPS® in a container
HUBER Technology is attending IFAT 2026 with one of its largest-ever presences at this trade fair: over 50 products and solutions displayed across more than 1,300 m², spread across Hall 2 (Stand 351) and Hall B5 (Stand 304). The central theme is increasing water and energy efficiency, in the context of the stricter requirements introduced by the new EU Urban Wastewater Directive.
The fourth treatment stage and phosphorus elimination are a major focal point. HUBER presents an integrated portfolio including pile cloth media filtration (HUBER Pile Cloth Media Filter RotaFilt®), sand filtration (HUBER Sandfilter CONTIFLOW®) and activated carbon adsorption (HUBER Activated Carbon Filter CONTIFLOW® GAK) — a combination that simultaneously addresses phosphorus removal, nitrogen elimination, and micropollutant treatment.
In mechanical wastewater treatment, HUBER will demonstrate live versions of the renowned HUBER Multi-Rake Bar Screen RakeMax®, including the innovative RakeMax® CF variant featuring a worldwide unique U-shaped bar rack through which wastewater flows from the inside out. Other exhibits include the HUBER Belt Screen EscaMax®, HUBER Coarse Screen TrashMax® și HUBER Rotary Drum Fine Screen ROTAMAT® Ro2. Also
For sludge dewatering, HUBER will exhibit the HUBER Screw Press Q-PRESS® in multiple sizes, with live demonstrations of its connectivity to the HUBER Cloud Solution platform for real-time machine performance monitoring and optimization.
The absolute highlight of the 2026 edition is the HUBER Cold Air Dryer HPS® — a heat pump-based dryer in a containerized design, aimed at small-scale municipal and industrial applications where no residual heat sources are available. For solar sludge drying, HUBER continues with the HUBER Sludge Turner SOLSTICE® FloorRunner, which runs directly on the drying hall floor without requiring wall-mounted rails — a system already implemented in several completed projects. The thermal drying portfolio is rounded out by the HUBER Belt Dryer BT and HUBER Disc Dryer RotaDry®.
Stand B5.304 is a new addition for 2026 and will be dedicated exclusively to solutions for industrial wastewater treatment and waste disposal, underscoring HUBER’s ability to provide full “360° support” to industrial clients.
HUBER also presents containerized, plug & play solutions: a mobile sludge dewatering plant will be on display, ready for both temporary rental and permanent operation. Additionally, in collaboration with its subsidiary in the United Arab Emirates, HUBER is launching modular, turnkey package plants for drinking water and wastewater treatment, designed for decentralized applications with minimal on-site construction.
Flottweg — Stand: A1.550
Flottweg Tricanter
Flottweg, a global leader in solid-liquid separation, participates in IFAT 2026 with its full range of decanter centrifuges, separators, and belt presses, with applications in municipal and industrial sludge treatment.
The stars of the stand are the centrifugele din seria C (C2E, C3E), specifically designed for the thickening and dewatering of sewage sludge. These machines integrate the proprietary Recuvane® technology, which recovers part of the kinetic energy of the centrate at the outlet and feeds it back into the main drive, reducing energy consumption by up to 30%. The Simp Drive® system automatically regulates the differential scroll speed based on the mechanical load, ensuring consistent dewatering performance.
Flottweg also presents the Tricanter® — a unique centrifuge for the simultaneous separation of three phases (solid-liquid-liquid) — with applications in oily sludge treatment, starch production, and fat recovery. The Sedicanter® , a patented centrifuge for soft and easy-flowing sediment that combines the advantages of a decanter and a disc separator, is also part of the exhibition lineup.
Valmet — Stand: C1.421
Valmet marks IFAT 2026 with a celebration of 20 years of leadership in wastewater solids measurement — an anniversary commemorated with a high-energy presence in Munich. The Finnish company, globally recognized for advanced automation and industrial process control solutions, focuses its IFAT presence on the wastewater segment.
Valmet presents its wastewater measurement and analysis solutions, including analyzers and sensors for real-time effluent quality monitoring, fully integrated with its distributed control systems. Valmet’s proposition for wastewater treatment plants combines intelligent process automation with data analytics tools, contributing to energy consumption reduction and continuous optimization of plant performance.
Brentwood Industries — Stand: A1.445
Brentwood Industries, an American manufacturer with a long track record in contact media and separation solutions for the water industry, is present at IFAT 2026 with its full range of plastic media for biological wastewater treatment, clarification packs, and industrial cooling tower fills.
Produsele Brentwood — high-density contact media for biofilters and biofilm reactors (MBBR/IFAS), lamella clarifier packs, and cooling tower fill media — are widely used in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants to increase biological treatment capacity, improve effluent quality, and reduce land footprint. IFAT 2026 represents an important opportunity for Brentwood to showcase its portfolio to a European audience, in the context of increasingly stringent requirements for nutrient removal and micropollutant elimination. Primozone — Stand: A3.235
Primozone, a Swedish company specializing in high-performance ozone generators, participates in IFAT 2026 with its solutions for advanced municipal and industrial water treatment.
The GM Series of ozone generators, based on Primozone’s patented technology, is the centerpiece of the display. These systems are designed for drinking water disinfection, micropollutant removal (pharmaceuticals, personal care products, hormones) from wastewater treatment plant effluents, aquaculture water treatment, and industrial disinfection. Ozone, generated on-site from oxygen and electricity, produces no chemical residues — it naturally decomposes back into oxygen after the reaction — making it a sustainable alternative to chlorine in the context of the fourth treatment stage. The Primozone® System Controller provides integrated monitoring and control of the entire ozonation installation.
